Publication day for book 10!

Today is publication day for the tenth (and currently final) book in my beloved Detective Madison Harper series. It’s the end of an era for now for Madison, Nate and Officer Brody. It’s a bittersweet day for me and no doubt for those of you who have been enjoying the series, but I made the difficult decision to end the series now while Madison and Nate are in the best place they’ve been since we met them (remember how messed up they were in book 1??! Thankfully, things have improved dramatically since then!). Who knows if we’ll revisit them some time in the future (I’m itching to write a Madison Harper/Dean Matheson crossover book some day!), but I didn’t want to ruin the series by continuing it for longer than necessary. Especially as I have so many ideas for new characters and plots. Plus, I need a little break from what has been a non-stop writing schedule for years now.

The good thing is that my publisher is supportive of my decision and eagerly waiting to see what I write next, so that’s nice. Having some breathing space will allow me to plot what’s next without rushing anything, which I’m sure will result in richer characters for you to read about.

Anyway, back to Their Last Cry, which is now available to order on Amazon in ebook, audio and paperback!

Here’s the description:

A biting wind whips through the desolate campsite as she gazes down in horror at the bodies at her feet; teens the same age as her son, their eyes glassy and their lips a deathly blue. She will stop at nothing to catch the twisted killer who heard their last cries…

Detective Madison Harper is enjoying a night out with her colleagues in Lost Creek when a heart-shattering scream rings out across the diner. Madison sprints outside, adrenaline pulsing through her veins, to find a young girl covered in blood. As the teen collapses in her arms, she locks eyes with Madison and whispers “all my friends are dead. And it was the devil who did it.”

Madison rushes to the site where the girl had been camping with four friends. Three bodies are lined up inside a tent, but fifteen-year-old Cassie, if she is still alive, is unaccounted for. Then a video goes live of Cassie chained up in a basement, and Madison’s blood turns to ice.

Madison pushes herself to the brink hunting down both the missing girl and a murderer while local parents tremble behind locked doors wondering if their own children could be next? With every second that passes the chance of finding Cassie alive gets smaller, but Madison won’t rest. Can she stop this killer from finding another victim? And will she make it in time to save Cassie?

This is an emotional but ultimately satisfying end to our time with Madison, Nate, Owen and Brody, so I hope you enjoy it. I’ve said it before but thank you so much for trying this series and for your encouragement along the way via your reviews. I always write with my readers in mind and while I know some of you would like this series to last forever (and some – including me – also still want more Dean Matheson books!), I currently feel that this is a good place to stop and take a breather.

Enjoy!

Wendy
